Pineapple Cake! Ft. Abbot

Pineapple Cake is a Taiwanese snack and a personal favorite that I would love to share. Originating in Taichung in the 1920s, the invention of the Taiwanese Pineapple Cake was influenced by post-Japanese colonization. As Taiwan shifted its production towards domestic consumption, it also became the third largest pineapple exporter in the world resulting in the creation of the Taiwanese Pineapple Cake. They're made with a buttery pastry that is filled with a chewy and savory pineapple jam. The pastry loses all structure and easily crumbles inside your mouth while the jam sticks to your teeth. Now, Pineapple Cakes represent luck and prosperity, often gifted at weddings as a symbol of a prosperous family and rich future.

I haven't had these in so long and they absolutely SMACKED. Thank you Jonah for getting us these from your month-long Taiwan trip over the Summer, we really enjoyed them! My dog enjoyed some too! 😂11/10 BUSSINS
