Jjajangmyeon!

Made up of thick wheat noodles coated in a savory and slightly sweet black bean sauce, normally with onion, zucchini, and pork, Jjajangmyeon is another one of my comfort foods. Despite being commonly seen in Kdramas, Korean restaurants, and all over Korean media, Jjajangmyeon is not just Korean. Like many other dishes, it is a Chinese dish that was Korean adapted. China already had its version called Zhajiangmen, meaning fried sauce noodles, which originated in Shandong, China. However, it wasn't until the late 19th century when Chinese immigrants in Incheon started serving Zhajiangmen. Changing it by adding caramel to make it sweeter, it became the Chinese-Korean Jjajangmyeon. So when you order from a Chinese restaurant compared to a Chinese-Korean restaurant, one will taste sweeter. If you're ever in town, Check out Full House Plus in Torrance! It's a hidden spot and needs more recognition so if you like it make sure to tell others to visit. 7/10 BUSSINS
